The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced enforcement actions on 1,095 property titles recently revoked over the non-payment of statutory land charges.
Lere Olayinka, senior special assistant on public communications and social media to Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, announced the development in a statement issued on Friday.
The affected properties are located in high-brow districts including Asokoro, Maitama, Garki and Wuse.
According to the FCTA, the owners failed to settle outstanding ground rent, certificate of occupancy (C-of-O) bills, penalty/violation fees, and land use conversion fees, despite repeated notices.
Of the 1,095 affected titles, 835 relate to default on ground rent, while 260 involve violations connected to land use conversion fees and other penalties.
The administration said it had issued multiple public notices between May and November 2025 via national newspapers, online platforms and television stations, warning defaulters to clear their liabilities or risk losing their titles.
The FCTA said Wike approved the enforcement following the expiration of the final 14-day grace period on November 25.
“The general public, particularly holders of property in the FCT, are hereby notified that the minister has approved commencement of enforcement actions on a total of 1,095 properties in the Federal Capital City (FCC) for defaulting in various payments,” the statement reads.
The administration said the continued non-compliance violates section 28 (5a & 5b) of the Land Use Act, as well as the conditions attached to rights of occupancy.
