Travellers along the Bauchi corridor of the Kano-Maiduguri Highway now have cause to Smile Again as the federal government (FG), through the Ministry of Works, opens it to traffic after carrying out emergency repairs on the flood ravaged Sabon Gari axis of Section 2 in Bauchi State.
SUMMIT POST reports that as a result of heavy flooding in the area recently, that portion of the road was severely damaged, prompting the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi to swing into action in bringing relief to motorists and the people whose livelihood was adversely affected by the devastating flood.
The restoration of the road was made known in a statement signed and issued by the Minister’s Special Adviser (Media), Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji.
The statement attributed the prompt intervention to the commitment to infrastructure development of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with his renewed hope agenda.
The Minister, Sen. Umahi, visited the area on 15th August 2024, and initiated emergency response as well as permanent solution measures towards addressing the ugly situation.
According to the statement, for the people of Bauchi State and environs, the latest development marks a return of hope as the people expressed their unreserved appreciation and commendation to the federal government and, in particular, the Umahi-led Ministry of Works.
