The Federal Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has taken swift action to address safety concerns at the Federal Government College,FGC, in Enugu, Nigeria.
Following a disturbing bullying incident involving the assault of an SS1 student by a group of students, the Ministry has established a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter.
As a result of the findings, the Ministry has suspended the 13 students involved pending the outcome of the investigation.
Also,, security measures have been heightened at the school, with the Ministry directing the School-Based Management Committee to work with law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation, including examining potential external affiliations.
The Ministry is also focusing on providing counselling and rehabilitation support to address underlying issues and reintegrate students into a positive school environment.
Alausa emphasises the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, including parents, school authorities, and security agencies, to create a secure atmosphere for students to learn and thrive. This proactive approach demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment in federal schools across the country.
