A Lafia-based firm, Nata’alah Waste and Facility Services Limited, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged corrupt practices by the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Waste Management and Sanitation Authority, Hon. Mohammed Isa Bello.
The firm and other affected persons, who chose to remain anonymous, submitted the petition through their counsel, Ayiwulu Baba Ayiwulu, Esq. of Black Peak Chamber.
They stated that the corrupt practices require the urgent attention and involvement of the anti-graft agency.
According to the petition dated November 12, the Bello-led management of NASWAMSA has converted most parts of the funds approved by Governor Abdullahi Sule for personal use, including funds allocated to contractors with specific awards on record.
They alleged that the NASWAMSA boss, appointed by Governor Sule months ago, has the habit of concealing all memos for approval of funds and paying part of the funds released with promises to pay off contractors after the work.
When contacted, the NASWAMSA boss denied the allegations in their entirety, describing them as an effort to undermine his ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the agency for efficient and effective service delivery.
Bello, who spoke through an aide, said the agency has recorded tremendous gains under his watch and reiterated his commitment to serving residents of the state.
