Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s team, the Flamingos on Sunday lifted the 2026 WAFU-U17 Girls’ Cup, by trouncing Togo 4-0 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Captain and striker Chidi Harmony opened scoring for Nigeria with a brace, both from the penalty spot, in the 15th and 35th minute, to end the first half.
In the second half, Olubebube Umejiaku added to the tally in the 67th minute, while Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, made it four in the 90th minute, to complete the rout.
The Flamingos, led by Coach Hakeem Busari, won their five matches in the competition.
The captain, while speaking to journalists after the victory, expressed satisfaction over the team’s feat feat.
“We are so proud of what we have achieved. It is not easy to win all five matches. Our main achievement is beating Ghana and the hosts Côte d’Ivoire,” Harmony stated.
Next up for the Flamingos is the 10th FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup holding in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2026.
Nigeria is in Group B alongside North Korea, Puerto Rico and Poland.
