This is coming days after the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) had sealed the office of the Abuja distribution company (DisCo) for allegedly defaulting in clearance of taxes in the wake of a service suspension order, with effect from 28 July, 2024, issued the company by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) – the bulk power supplier in the Nigerian electricity value chain.

Prior to his appointment, Engr Okwuokenye served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) overseeing strategic support units and embedded generation projects of the company.

The statement quoted the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Stanley Lawson, as saying, “Chijioke Okwuokenye is an experienced leader who has been a part of the company’s transformation agenda and is well suited to drive its corporate turnaround. I am confident that, with his technical and commercial background, he will continue to drive value for all AEDC stakeholders”.

The company also announced the appointment of Olumide Jerome as the COO. Prior to this, he served as one of the company’s Chief Business Officers.

Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) is an electricity distribution company in Nigeria with Kogi, Niger, and Nasarawa states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja as its franchise area.
