Nottingham Forest have sacked their manager, Ange Postecoglou, after just 39 days in charge of the club.
His dismissal was confirmed on Saturday via a statement put out by the Premier League club.
Postecoglou was relieved of his appointment after a 3-0 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.
“The club will make no further comment at this time,” the statement read.
The Australian tactician’s sacking after less than 40 days means his stint at Forest is the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history.
Postecoglou was appointed on September 9 to replace Nuno Espírito Santo who finishing in European places last season.
The former Tottenham manager, however, failed to win any of his eight matches in charge, with two draws and six defeats across all competitions.
Forest collected just two points from the Australian’s five Premier League matches in charge, leaving the side one point above the relegation zone in 17th.
