Global Methodist Church Bishop Urges Calm Amid Security Tensions

Jalingo, Nigeria – Bishop Johnwesley Yohanna of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) has called on members to remain calm and resolute in their faith amidst rising tensions with security forces.
In a statement issued to SUMMIT POST, Bishop Yohanna urged members to “not be disturbed” by the recent harassment and arrest of some church members during worship services. He assured them that church officials are working to address the situation and find a peaceful resolution.
“We are law-abiding citizens and will not take the law into our hands,” Bishop Yohanna emphasized. “We will continue to serve God and support the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas in achieving its objectives.”
The bishop also reiterated the church’s stance on homosexuality, stating that it is “incompatible with Christian teachings” and that no member of the GMC will support or engage in such acts.
Bishop Yohanna’s call for calm comes as tensions rise between the GMC and security forces in Taraba State. Despite the challenges, the bishop remains committed to finding a peaceful solution and upholding the values of the church.
“We will continue to serve God and support the administration…without compromising our values,” he said.
