The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Kamilu Sa’idu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Kaura-Namoda South State Constituency bye-election in Zamfara State.
This is a significant victory for the APC over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is the party of the current Governor, Dauda Lawal.
During the supplementary election, Sa’idu received 1,181 votes, while his opponent, Muhammad Lawal Kurya of the PDP, received 194 votes. The final results across the entire constituency showed APC with 8,182 votes and PDP with 5,544 votes.
The Returning Officer, Lawal Sa’adu, officially declared Sa’idu the winner. This supplementary election was held after the initial vote was declared inconclusive.
Kamilu Sa’idu, who previously served as a Special Adviser to former Governor Bello Matawalle, will now be a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, representing Kaura-Namoda South.
