In his efforts to cushion economic hardship and support vulnerable residents across the 16 local government areas of Taraba State, Governor Agbu Kefas has released 30,000 50kg bags of maize for distribution across the state.
The maize were released on Saturday in Jalingo by the Chairman of the Palliative Committee, Hon. Saleh Sa’ad.
He also handed over 15,000 bags of 10kg rice donated to the state by the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote.
Handing over the items to local government chairmen, Hon. Saleh Sa’ad disclosed that the rice donation was a philanthropic gesture from Dangote, noting that it has become an annual intervention.
“Aliko Dangote as a friend of the state has consistently support the state in impact lives positively.
According to him, both the rice and maize would be distributed through the 16 local government councils, with strict instructions that the items reach the most vulnerable members of society.
“I urged council chairmen to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution process – he said.
He explained that by releasing the 30,000 bags of maize for statewide distribution, Gov Agbu kefas has demonstrated compassion for the people.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security commended Governor Kefas for the intervention, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the food items reach intended beneficiaries.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, Hon. Moses Maihankali, expressed appreciation to Governor Kefas for the maize distribution.
He thanked Aliko Dangote for the rice donation, pledging on behalf of all council chairmen that the items would be equitably distributed across communities.
