The Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, has said that the present administration under Governor Dr Abgu Kefas is setting a new benchmark to communities through visible and measurable progress.
She stated this in a statement made available to Journalists in Jalingo while giving an update on the ongoing long-awaited Mararaba–Baissa road being constructed by the present administration aimed at easing the long-standing hardships faced by farmers in central and southern parts of the state.
“The vision is a fully motorable corridor that connects people, drives economic growth, and reinforces government presence across rural communities.
“Significant work is ongoing along the Mararaba–Didan, Didan–Baissa, and Ashuku–Abong stretches, transforming what was once a difficult route into a symbol of purposeful leadership and effective service delivery.
“What residents are witnessing is not routine activity, but a deliberate and results-driven intervention aimed at correcting years of infrastructural neglect and reconnecting communities to economic opportunities,” she said.
Recent assessments confirm substantial progress across key segments of the road, with heavy construction ongoing and timelines becoming clearer.
According to her, the government’s decision to engage three construction firms to handle different sections simultaneously has also accelerated the pace of work, ensuring steady progress on multiple fronts.
“The project is already making a tangible impact on residents—especially farmers, traders, and families.
“Farmers eager to move produce with ease, to traders anticipating increased commercial flow, and families seeking better access to essential services, the impact of this project is already being felt.
“Farmers can also look forward to easier transportation of produce, traders anticipate increased commercial activity, and communities expect improved access to essential services – she said.
“The Mararaba–Baissa road is fast becoming more than just infrastructure; it is a clear statement that governance in Taraba has taken a new direction anchored on delivery and impact.
The Commissioner expressed confidence that when the portion is completed in the coming months, the Mararaba–Didan section will link up with the Didan–Baissa stretch, while work from Ashuku through Abong continues steadily toward completion.
“The vision is to deliver a fully motorable corridor that connects people, stimulates economic growth, and strengthens government presence in rural communities.
“The narrative is no longer about expectations, but outcomes unfolding in real time,” she added.
Zainab Jalingo pointed out that the project is a clear evidence that the present administration under Governor Agbu Kefas, work’s with action, coordination, and results oriented that citizens can see and experience.
