Taraba state Governor Agbu Kefas received the news of veteran journalist Mallam Isa Gasau’s passing on Thursday night with profound sadness, calling it a “devastating loss.”
Gasau, who served as Governor Babagana Zulum’s spokesperson in Borno state until his death, held prominent media positions under various Borno state administrations. Governor Kefas lauded Gasau as a “consummate newsman” whose absence would be deeply felt by his colleagues and the Borno community he diligently served.
During a condolence visit to the Jalingo correspondents chapel office by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, Governor Kefas expressed his condolences to Gasau’s family and friends. He highlighted the tragic timing of Gasau’s passing, occurring when the nation and Borno state particularly needed his expertise and contributions.
“Gusau was a shining example of professionalism in the media world,” Governor Kefas stated, “whose record of service stood as an inspiration to others. His years as a reporter with Daily Trust Newspaper and his subsequent roles in public office cemented his reputation for efficiency and unwavering dedication.”
Governor Kefas further reiterated his commitment to fostering an enabling environment for media practitioners in Taraba state. “The press,” he asserted, “remains a crucial partner in the democratic process of governance.”
The passing of Mallam Isa Gasau leaves a void in the Nigerian media landscape. His dedication to journalism, professionalism, and service will be remembered and serve as an inspiration to aspiring journalists and public servants alike.
