The Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday joined dignitaries and senior military officers at the Nigerian Army Headquarters Officers’ Mess, Niger Barracks, Abuja, for the reception ceremony in honour of the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Wahidee Shaibu.
Governor Ododo, who was represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, described General Shaibu’s appointment as a reward for dedication, professionalism, and selfless service to the nation.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a competent officer to lead the Nigerian Army and reaffirmed Kogi State’s continuous collaboration with the military and other security agencies to sustain peace and security in the state.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by General Patrick Akpa (Rtd.), Hon. Emmanuel Egwu, Hon. Amodu Shehu Seidu, Hon. Sadiq Abubakar Ainoko, Hon. Victor Omale Uchola, Hon. Thomas Offor, and Hon. Itopa Irehin Yakubu, among others.
Governor Ododo congratulated Major General Wahidee Shaibu and expressed confidence in his capacity to strengthen the Army’s role in defending Nigeria’s unity and territorial integrity.
