Wukari, the capital of the ancient Kwararafa Kingdom, became a hub of activity as prominent figures from various sectors joined the residents of Southern Taraba to celebrate their esteemed son, Governor Agbu Kefas
Governor Agbu Kefas re – ssured Tarabans of his administration’s commitment to every community in the state.
He made this statement during a civic reception held in his honour in Wukari on Saturday, 31st of May 2025 organised by the people of Southern Taraba which took place at the Government Secondary School, Wukari.
Governor Kefas expressed his gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him by his constituents.
“The public should not let divisive voices distract from his administration’s ongoing transformation efforts.
He described the occasion as a unifying experience and took the opportunity to highlight the contributions he had made to the region before his election.
“For the past two years, i listened to the concerns and expectations of the people, I assured you that my administration remains focused on delivering tangible results.
The Governor noted his commitment to maintaining peace across the state and restoring the dignity of traditional institutions.
Governor Kefas reiterated his responsibility to act in the best interest of the people of Taraba, mentioning his efforts to attract potential partners and investors to the state, which he pursued not for personal gain but for the benefit of all.
Speaking, the Paramount Ruler of the Jukuns, His Royal Majesty Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali, who is also the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, commended Governor Kefas. He noted that the Governor is the second person from the zone to hold the office and expressed pride in the achievements made under his leadership in education, health, agriculture, and other sectors.
The Paramount traditional ruler praised the Governor for strengthening the education sector and highlighted his visionary leadership as the reason for the celebration.
In a goodwill message, the former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, along with Chief Michael Aondoka, a former Minister of Justice, remarked that the event reflects the affection of the people for the Governor.
They called on all residents of the state, regardless of tribe, religion, or background, to unite in support of the Governor’s development agenda.
In his remarks, Chairman of the event’s planning committee, Chief John Maman, explained that the ceremony was organized to honour their son, the Governor, and was initiated by the traditional rulers of the southern zone. He expressed strong faith in the Governor’s ability to bring development to the state.
During the event, gifts were presented to Governor Kefas from the Aku Uka and the organizing committee, and he was presented with an award by Amb. Sanvalla Verzoa Shimbura, the Gara of Donga, on behalf of the southern zone in recognition of his effective service to humanity and leadership.
The occasion also featured performances by traditional dancers, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the southern zone. It was attended by top government officials and notable traditional rulers from across Nigeria.
