Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has congratulated the management and staff of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers on the 75th anniversary of the media organization’s founding, commending its role in promoting responsible journalism and democracy.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, and sent to SUMMIT Post on Saturday, Ododo lauded the Tribune’s leadership in shaping public discourse and holding governments accountable through its commitment to truth, transparency, and accountability.
Ododo celebrated the legacy of the Nigerian Tribune as a bastion of responsible journalism, which he said has earned the trust and loyalty of readers across Nigeria.
He highlighted its dedication to fact-based reporting and objectivity, even amid the challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.
The governor reaffirmed the importance of ethical journalism in sustaining democracy and described the Tribune as a reputable institution that continues to uphold these principles.
He expressed optimism that the milestone would inspire the newspaper to persist in its pursuit of truth and journalistic ethics, which he deemed vital for Nigeria’s democratic stability.
Founded on Nov. 16, 1949, by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his wife, Hannah Dideolu, the Nigerian Tribune is one of the country’s pioneering media institutions, with a longstanding reputation for credibility and integrity.
