Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has announced the appointment of veteran journalist Mr. Linus Obogo as his new Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
The appointment, effective June 17, 2025, aims to bolster the administration’s information and communication strategies for more effective public engagement.
In a related development, Mr. Nsa Gill, who previously served as Chief Press Secretary, has been redeployed as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
Gill, a former chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, is now tasked with leading government efforts to foster deeper public engagement and promote transparency and clarity in policy communication.
A statement confirming both appointments was issued by Prof. A. Owan Enoh, Secretary to the State Government.
The statement emphasized that “The appointments are in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening its information machinery for effective and responsive communication.”
This move by the Otu-led administration is viewed as a deliberate effort to broaden its media relations strategy, promote good governance, and enhance public communication through a more robust and coordinated media engagement framework.
