The Kogi Forum of Senior Special Assistants (KFSSA) and leaders of the Governor Ododo Business Outreach (GOBO) on Wednesday conducted an empowerment program at Kabba Central Market, providing direct financial support to petty traders and strengthening ties with local leaders.
The delegation, led by Hon. Yahaya Shehu Ahmed, Chairman and Director General of GOBO, commenced the day with a visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi.
The monarch praised the initiative, attributing its success to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to grassroots development and his strategic appointments.
Following this, the GOBO team visited the residence of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Executive Chairman, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, who lauded the initiative as a bridge between government officials and local communities.
At Kabba Central Market, 20 traders received financial assistance of 50,000 naira each to boost their businesses. Beneficiaries included sellers of berneseed, tomatoes, and roasted plantains, among others. Hon. Ahmed emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to alleviate poverty and empower small-scale entrepreneurs.
“We aim to uplift traders at the grassroots level, ensuring sustainable economic growth and demonstrating the government’s dedication to citizen welfare,” Ahmed said.
The program also incorporated a monitoring mechanism to ensure the funds are effectively utilized. Hon. Femi Esemikose and Hon. Augustine Egbebi were assigned to oversee the progress of the beneficiaries.
Leaders hope the Kabba-Bunu initiative will serve as a blueprint for similar interventions across Kogi West Senatorial District and the state, as GOBO seeks to expand its reach to more communities.
