Three young children were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday morning in Nkwegu, near the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate, the Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, the victims include a two-year-old boy and two girls aged four and two. The incident was immediately reported to the police by the children’s parents.
“No ransom has been demanded so far, and no suspects have been apprehended,” Ukandu said.
“Our officers are actively investigating the case and working to ensure the safe return of the children,” he added.
The incident has sparked renewed fears about child safety in Abakaliki and surrounding areas, amid growing concerns over rising kidnapping cases in parts of Ebonyi State.
