The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted hazy weather and localized rainfall across parts of the country between Monday and Wednesday.
In a weather outlook released on Sunday, NiMet reported that the northern region will experience slight haze on Monday, with visibility expected to range between 2 to 5 kilometers.
“The north-central region is expected to have slight dust haze with similar visibility conditions of 2 to 5 kilometers during the forecast period,” the agency stated.
In southern Nigeria, sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere are predicted inland, with early morning thunderstorms and light rain anticipated in parts of Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.
Later in the day, thunderstorms with light rainfall are likely to extend to areas such as southern Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta states.
“Sunny and hazy skies are expected over the inland areas of the southern region, with coastal states seeing patches of clouds,” NiMet added. Afternoon and evening hours may bring thunderstorms with moderate rainfall to Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet advised the public, especially those with respiratory conditions, to take precautions during this period. The agency also recommended that airline operators consult weather reports for effective planning amid potentially reduced visibility.
