Historic: Igala Kingdom’s Prime Minister Visits Unasi for Agwuba Omoriko Festival

It is with great sense of excitement and pride as I reflect on the historic visit of The Achadu Oko Attah Igala and Prime Minister of Igala Kingdom, HRH Alih Yusuf Attama Ameadaji for the 2025 Agwuba Omoriko festival held last Monday during the reign of my father HRH Frederick Aguba Olija as the Dooga-on-Throne of Unasi Nimbo after over 50 years of such visit in the early 70s. This indeed is very significant to me as whose father is the Dooga-on-Throne during this visit.

The visit of Achadu Oko Attah Igala to this year’s Agwuba Festival of Unasi Nimbo during the reign of my father is a momentous occasion that has been etched in the annals of Unasi history. This significant event not only strengthened the ancestral ties between Unasi and Igala Kingdom but also reinforced the rich cultural heritage of our people, highlighting the shared ancestry and cultural affinities that have existed for generations. The warm reception accorded Achadu Oko Attah Igala, his council of Chiefs and entourage by HRH Dooga Fredrick Aguba Olija and the people of Unasi bolstered the enduring bond between us and Achadu, the father of Agwuba Omoriko.
The Agwuba Festival, a cherished age long tradition of the Unasi people, provided a fitting backdrop for this historic visit. The festival’s vibrant celebrations, steeped in tradition and cultural significance, offered a glimpse into the rich heritage of Unasi people and their ancestral origin from Igala.
The visit has had a lasting impact on the people of Unasi, reinforcing our sense of identity and cultural pride. It has also served as a catalyst for preserving and promoting our ancestral history, ensuring that future generations can continue to draw inspiration from our rich cultural legacy, preserving our cultural heritage and honoring our ancestral roots.

This moment will forever be etched in my memory, and I am grateful to have experienced it.
Long live my father
Long live Dooga
Long live Achadu Oko Attah Igala
Long live Unasi umu nkwarika.
