Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has called on Muslim faithful to make this year’s Ramadan a period of promoting peace, strengthening security, and deepening unity across the state.
In a goodwill message marking the start of the holy month, the deputy governor congratulated the Muslim Ummah and urged them to reflect on the core values of Ramadan.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo, Idahosa also extended warm greetings to Christians as they commence the Lenten season.
He described both Ramadan and Lent as sacred periods in Islam and Christianity, characterised by fasting, prayer, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to God. He noted that these seasons provide an opportunity for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, acts of charity, and compassion, particularly toward the less privileged in society.
The deputy governor commended Muslims for upholding the principles of peace, patience, and generosity that define Ramadan, and encouraged them to continue praying for the growth, stability, and prosperity of Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.
He also recognised the significance of Lent in the Christian faith, describing it as a solemn period of repentance, self-examination, and spiritual preparation ahead of Easter.
Idahosa urged Christians to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, and reconciliation as they observe the season.
