Legal Luminary JS Okutepa Blasts New Kogi Governor For Disrespecting Ata Igala

Nehemiah 2 vs 11
Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” 1

As we wait for the outcome of the legal challenge by the inimitable Muritala Ajaka of the outcome of the November 11,2023 Kogi Gubernatorial elections,I think it is time all patriots of Igala extraction to come together and start work for the rebuilding of the walls of the great Igala Kingdom that lies desolate and in destruction .

The time to act is now, we all know what ails our land and it’s people. We also know how much our quest for and wholesome attention on winning and retaining the Governorship has cost us in cash, cohesion and development.

We are individual giants but collective Lilliputians, in other words successful individuals and collective failures.

We shouldn’t wait till the next election cycle to get started. We are in need of authentic, courageous and forward looking leadership, not necessarily political leadership at this point.

The biblical quote above should be our battle cry and motivation.

A synergy among the various groups and associations is the best point to start, let us start collaborating to further the interests of our land and its people rather than competing for space and relevance.

Personal interests must out of urgency be subsumed by our collective interests, let us as a matter of urgency stop sighting the moon in our individual compounds.

We need to sign on to the mantra of co-operation for our collective interests and stop working in silos.

The lack of opportunities for our teeming youths should be enough to rob us of our collective sleep, just as the deepening poverty occasioned by poor governance at the state and local level should stir us to pragmatic and practical actions to reverse the fearful trend.

In closing, I want to beg us to forgive ourselves for all the offences and injuries done to one another in the course of our direction less wander to nowhere. The tasks ahead are daunting, challenging but doable.
