Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri has appointed Dr. Basillia Igbokwe as its 9th substantive Rector.
In her inaugural speech, Dr. Igbokwe expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the polytechnic community, National Board for Technical Education, and the Federal Ministry of Education.
She assured her colleagues of a harmonious working relationship and vowed to pursue the institution’s founding vision.
Her agenda includes prioritizing staff welfare, fighting malpractices, restoring environmental cleanliness, promoting ICT, and improving internally generated revenue.
Chairman Henry Ikoro congratulated Dr. Igbokwe, describing her competitors as “eminently qualified.” Imo Deputy Governor Chinyere Ekomaru urged Dr. Igbokwe to be firm and innovative, focusing on vocational and technical education, cordial relationships, and research.
The institution’s unions pledged support, emphasizing staff welfare and student learning environment. As Dr. Igbokwe begins her five-year tenure, expectations are high for transformative leadership and positive change at Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri.
