Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released an official notice confirming that the Anambra governorship election will take place on 8 November 2025.
The notice was issued in Awka on Sunday by the state INEC spokesperson, Mrs Ugomma Lechukwu, in line with the requirements of the Electoral Act.
Lechukwu stated that polling will open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 2:30 p.m., noting that voters must participate only at the polling centres where they are registered.
She further clarified that only citizens whose names are on the electoral register and who present valid voter cards will be eligible to cast their ballots.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 16 candidates are vying for the governorship position. Two of the candidates are women, while the remaining 14 are men.
