The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has held talks with the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, over the persistent security challenges affecting communities in Southern Kaduna.
Katung disclosed this in a statement on Saturday after visiting the minister at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Abuja, describing the meeting as part of efforts to seek stronger federal intervention to improve security in parts of his senatorial district.
According to the lawmaker, the engagement focused on the safety of residents in communities within Kaduna South Senatorial District, many of which have faced security threats in recent years.
“The meeting was a crucial step towards addressing security concerns affecting some of our communities in Kaduna South Senatorial District,” Katung said.
He expressed satisfaction with the minister’s response and commitment to tackling the security situation, noting that the Defence Minister demonstrated readiness to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the affected areas.
Katung further commended Musa’s leadership and approach to national security, describing it as strategic and comprehensive.
He noted that the minister’s perspective goes beyond local concerns to address the broader security needs of Kaduna State and the country at large.
“The minister’s approach to security is comprehensive, looking beyond our senatorial district to the broader needs of Kaduna State and Nigeria,” he added.
The senator emphasised the need for collaboration among political leaders, security agencies, and community stakeholders in addressing insecurity, noting that sustainable peace can only be achieved through collective efforts.
