During a visit to Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar to discuss the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran.

The meeting focused on the importance of diplomacy in preventing tensions from growing in the region.

The talks come at a time when indirect discussions between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program are gaining renewed attention. With the second round recently concluded in Rome and a third round scheduled for next week, regional players are watching closely.

The Iraqi minister highlighted that peaceful dialogue remains the most effective way to handle disputes. He warned of the serious consequences that could follow any military escalation and called for efforts to prevent further instability.

Both ministers also explored ways to deepen cooperation between Iraq and the UAE. They discussed strengthening diplomatic ties, boosting joint efforts on regional security, and encouraging closer political coordination.

Fuad Hussein said the region needs a collective security framework that benefits all countries. He called for finding common ground to help reduce friction and build trust among neighbors.

In response, the UAE’s Al Marar reaffirmed the strong bond between the two countries and stressed that long-term stability in the Middle East can only be achieved through a peaceful environment. He pointed out the urgency of regional cooperation to face shared challenges.

The diplomatic activity reflects growing concerns across the Middle East as global powers engage with Iran. With Iraq playing a mediating role, its leadership is pushing for a balanced approach that puts stability and dialogue first.
