Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has lauded the holistic approach taken by the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) to bring succour to Rukubi community of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State by donating a clinic to those affected in the last airstrike at Akpanaja community, a border town of Doma Local Government Area.
The Governor appreciated the drastic measure taken by the headquarters of the NAF in supporting victims of the last airstrike in Akpanaja.
He gave the hint during the official commissioning and handing over of the well equipped clinic built by the NAF.
“This is democracy in action. In essence , I have to commend the airforce for accepting that they made a mistake of the airstrike that claims lives of herders.
“That particular incident would never vanish away from my memory so soon, because one person’s nine children perished in the airstrike. Just few days after I sympathise with them, my own elderly son, Hassan, died a victim on 27th of January, 2023,” he said.
The State Governor however appreciated the Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Honourable Jonathan Okuba Addra, for taken the responsibility of providing the clinic with qualify health care providers.
He in addition averred that the state government had a plan to establish schools for Fulbe Fulani’s in the area, even as he admonished Fulani herders to shun night grazing anywhere in the state, saying anything can happen during night grazing.
Governor Abdullahi Sule also warned Fulani herders from taken any reprisal attack in Nasarawa State in aftermath of skirmishes in neighboring Benue State, As he said there are Tiv’s in Nasarawa as well in Benue State.
In Benue State, anti-grazing law had been adopted, while in Nasarawa State there is no any legislation on anti grazing.
“Nasarawa State Tivs are different from Tivs from Benue State, You have to take these differences into cognizance, he added.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Bala Hassan Abubakar, who was represented by Air Vice Marshall Ibikunle Daramola, the Chief of Civil Relations, commended the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, for his immense support for the Airforce.
He regretted the occurrence of the ugly incident during their operation, saying the NAF had adopted new ground to mitigate harm to unharmed civilians.
The Chief of Air Staff in his response said the gesture was in commemoration of the 61th Anniversary of the Airforce, He further buttresed that the Airforce is also embarking on the construction of a Primary School at Akpanaja community.
The Osakpa of Akpanaja who represented the Chairman Council of Chiefs, The Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga commended the Air Force for the steps taken.
The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Honorable Jonathan Okuba Addra, in his speech promised to deploy qualify health providers to the facility.
Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra told the mammoth crowd that within the shortest time quality health providers would be deploy to the facility.
The Executive Chairman thanked the Nigeria Airforce for taking such a progress decision to compensate the entire community.
