Hollywood power couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are calling it quits after two years of marriage. Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to court documents.
The pair, affectionately known as “Bennifer,” tied the knot in a private ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a larger wedding ceremony in Georgia the next month.
Lopez reflected on their rekindled romance in 2022, saying, “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.” This sentiment has now been overshadowed by their impending divorce.
The court filing requires Lopez to notify Affleck of her petition to dissolve their marriage. Notably, Lopez did not disclose any details of a prenuptial agreement in her petition.
Both parties must share financial information, including income, expenses, properties, and debts, as part of the divorce proceedings. The court has given Lopez 60 days to file a financial disclosure, followed by an additional 60 days for Affleck to respond.
The news comes after months of speculation surrounding their relationship, including reports of their Beverly Hills mansion being put up for sale and sightings of the couple without their wedding rings.
This marks Lopez’s fourth divorce and Affleck’s second. Both have been married previously, with Lopez’s past spouses including Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony, and Affleck’s previous marriage to Jennifer Garner.
