The Jigawa State Government has approved a supplementary budget of ₦75 billion for the 2025 financial year and is preparing to submit it to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
The approval was reached during the State Executive Council meeting held in Dutse, where officials explained that the new budget plan became necessary due to extra revenue generated by the government.
Out of the total figure, about ₦58 billion has been set aside for the state government, while ₦17 billion will go to the 27 local government councils. The funds are expected to cover both recurrent and capital expenses, with a focus on projects and programmes across different sectors.
The supplementary budget is designed to support ongoing works in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and other areas of development. It also aims to make funds available for new and unforeseen needs, while keeping government spending in line with present economic realities.
The proposal will be presented to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for debate and possible approval in line with constitutional requirements.
Earlier this year, Governor Umar Namadi signed the 2025 appropriation bill of ₦698.3 billion into law, the largest in the state’s history. More than three-quarters of that budget was directed towards capital projects, showing the administration’s plan to strengthen infrastructure and improve the living conditions of residents.
