Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State erupted in celebration on Monday as Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe commissioned the newly completed Igwo and Betukwel road projects. The event drew large crowds of residents, traditional rulers, women, and youths who gathered to honour the Senator for his sustained commitment to grassroots development.
The atmosphere in Obudu was festive as cultural troupes and jubilant supporters welcomed Senator Jarigbe, who also inspected ongoing projects, including the Betukwel Ultra-Modern Town Hall and the Amukwong Bridge in Alege/Ubang.
Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Jarigbe expressed appreciation to his constituents for their support and confidence in his leadership. He assured them that work would continue on the remaining road stretches and other community-driven projects aimed at improving infrastructure and livelihoods.
At Igwo, the Clan Head, His Royal Highness Utsu Cornelius Ulem, commended the Senator for breaking years of infrastructural neglect. He said the new road would ease mobility, open up economic activities, and improve access to essential services.
In Betukwel, residents described the newly commissioned road and the town hall project as major milestones that would promote social and economic growth within the community.
Similarly, at Alege/Ubang, the people expressed delight over the ongoing Amukwong Bridge project, noting that it would enhance connectivity and boost local trade.
Among those who accompanied the Senator were Chief Austin Edibe, Prof. Zana Akpagu, Mr. John Atsu, Hon. Kingsley Agabi, Mr. Jimmy Anenige, Hon. Charles Eneji, and Mr. Egar Mgbantul.
The commissioning ceremony ended in a carnival-like celebration, with residents dancing and chanting praises in appreciation of Senator Jarigbe’s developmental impact across Obudu.
