A woman accused of supplying the ketamine that killed Friends star Matthew Perry has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges, US prosecutors said Monday.
The Department of Justice confirmed that Jasveen Sangha, widely known as the “ketamine queen,” will plead guilty to five counts. She had been due to stand trial in September.
Sangha is one of five people charged in connection with Perry’s death. Another defendant, California physician Salvador Plasencia, admitted in July to illegally distributing ketamine and pleaded guilty to four charges.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined Perry died on October 28, 2023, from the acute effects of ketamine. The powerful anesthetic caused him to lose consciousness and drown in his hot tub.
Additional medications in his system and his long history of addiction were cited as contributing factors. Perry was 54 years old.
The actor had spoken openly about his struggles with substance abuse, often expressing hope that his experiences could help others battling addiction.
Best known for playing Chandler Bing on NBC’s Friends, Perry remained a beloved figure to millions of fans worldwide.
