North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister has dismissed reports from Seoul that her country has started dismantling loudspeakers along the border with South Korea.
She stated that the devices remain in place and that there are no plans to take them down.
She also made it clear that Pyongyang is not interested in restarting talks with either South Korea or the United States.
According to her, the upcoming joint military drill planned for late August by Seoul and Washington is a sign of continuing hostility toward North Korea.
She accused South Korea’s government of giving its citizens false information about the loudspeakers.
Military drills involving South Korea and the United States have long been criticized by North Korea, which views them as rehearsals for a possible attack.
Pyongyang often uses such occasions to display military strength through tests or demonstrations linked to its nuclear program.
In response, South Korea’s military reaffirmed its view that dismantling work has begun at some border sites but cautioned against taking official statements from Pyongyang at face value.
The situation at the border remains tense as both sides prepare for the planned exercises.
