Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North Senatorial District, has decried the deplorable state of Lagos-Asaba Expressway, specifically the Alifekide to Asaba Bridge End stretch,urging the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engineer Chukwuemeka Agbasi to address it as a matter of urgency.
Nwoko gave the charge during a meeting with the FERMA MD, recently,pointing out that the section of the road has become hazardous, resulting in numerous fatalities and endangering lives and properties.
He stressed the urgent need for attention, saying that he also spoke with Minister of Works David Umahi, who confirmed contractors would be mobilized to the site without delay.
Nwoko stressed that the road’s poor condition continues to endanger both lives and properties, affecting surrounding communities and road users.
Furthermore, the lawmaker urged Agbasi to give urgent attention to this particular federal road.
In response, Engineer Agbasi assured the Senator that prompt action would be taken to address the deteriorated sections of the road.
Meanwhile, Senator Nwoko, in a post had hinted that he spoke with the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who confirmed that contractors would be mobilized to the site without further delays.
“I want to take this opportunity to commend all ministers, MD/CEOs, Heads of Departments, and other government officials who are diligently fulfilling their responsibilities,” he wrote.
