Former senate president, Ahmad Lawan has denied making a statement criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing the report as “false and malicious”.
The alleged statement claimed Lawan said, “Nobody is criticizing Tinubu because he is Yoruba, we all know his policies caused hunger and unbearable hardships.”
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, Lawan’s office described the report as an attempt to “sow discord and mislead the public”. Lawan reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, stating, “Senator Lawan stands firmly in support of President Bola Tinubu whom he campaigned vigorously for ahead of the 2023 General Elections. He remains committed to working with President Tinubu’s administration for the progress and prosperity of Nigeria”.
Lawan’s office questioned the motives behind spreading such misinformation, asking if it was “a desperate bid to undermine unity within the APC, or a calculated effort to exploit ethnic tensions for political gain?” They urged the public and media outlets to verify information before sharing it.
The former Senate President has maintained a consistent stance of support for President Tinubu’s administration, recognizing the efforts to tackle the country’s economic challenges. Lawan’s office emphasized his dedication to serving Nigeria with honor and truth.
