The Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, will swear-in chairmen of local government areas elected on Saturday’s controversial poll.
A government special announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, said the governor would inaugurate the chairmen at 4pm today, Sunday October 6.
“The newly elected chairmen, along with one guest each, are expected to be seated by 3:30pm”, the statement said.
According to the announcement by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISIEC), 22 out of the 23 council chairmen were elected on the platform of the Actions Peoples Party (APP), an alternative political party of Fubara’s camp.
RISIEC said the Etche Local council’s results were being awaited and would be announced alongside councilorship results.
