Rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested in Los Angeles following a confrontation with police early Thursday morning. Officers were called to Ventura Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. local time after reports of a man walking in his underwear.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 25-year-old musician allegedly charged at responding officers and was taken into custody on suspicion of battery.
Authorities later confirmed that he was transported to hospital for treatment linked to a possible overdose.
Video footage published by TMZ, though not verified, appeared to show the Grammy winner dancing in the street wearing only underwear and cowboy boots, encouraging passersby to join him.
The arrest comes as Lil Nas X prepares for the release of his second album Dreamboy, expected later this year. He has been teasing new material on social media in recent weeks.
Born Montero Lamar Hill, the artist rose to global fame with Old Town Road in 2019, which became the longest-running number one hit in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The track earned him two Grammy Awards and recognition as the first openly gay man to receive a Country Music Association award.
Known for pushing creative and cultural boundaries, Lil Nas X has faced repeated criticism from conservative groups, particularly for provocative visuals in his hit Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
He has often responded to backlash with satire and defiance, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most controversial figures in modern pop culture.
