
A shocking incident occurred in Kano State on Thursday when a 30-year-old man, identified as Mutawakilu Ibrahim, fatally attacked his grandparents during a quarrel linked to food.
The victims, 75-year-old Muhammad Dansokoto and 65-year-old Hadiza Tasidi, were stabbed multiple times in their home at Kofar Dawanau Quarters.
Residents said the disagreement, which began in the morning hours, quickly turned violent as the suspect, reportedly under the influence of substances, used a knife against the elderly couple. The injuries they sustained left them in critical condition before they were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. Doctors at the hospital confirmed both dead shortly after arrival, and their remains were later handed over to relatives for burial according to Islamic customs.
The police command in Kano confirmed that the suspect was arrested shortly after the attack. He has been taken into custody while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for further inquiry. The police stated that he will face charges in court once investigations are completed.
