The Osun State Police Command has uncovered the gruesome killing of an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her daughter, Sewa, allegedly masterminded by her partner, Victor Fajemirokun, in connivance with two herbalists.
Forty-year-old Fajemirokun was paraded alongside the herbalists, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, at the Command Headquarters in Osogbo on Wednesday. The suspects are accused of luring the victims from Ogun State to Ijebu-Jesa in Osun State, where they were reportedly killed for ritual purposes.
Funmilayo, 39, and her daughter were declared missing on November 2 after leaving their residence at the Obasanjo Hilltop Estate in Abeokuta.
Fajemirokun, an Osogbo-based businessman, told journalists he acted after a cleric informed him that Funmilayo had “used his glory” through spiritual means. He claimed he invited her to Osun State under the guise of undergoing spiritual cleansing.
According to him, “I met Gboyega Daramola on TikTok. He told me that Funmilayo was responsible for my misfortune and asked me to bring her. When we took her to the bush for rituals, they killed her and her daughter. I was confused and felt hypnotised.”
One of the herbalists, Sunday James, admitted participating in the killing, stating that his boss, Daramola, ordered him to carry out the act. He said the victims’ throats were slit before the woman’s body was dismembered.
Daramola, however, denied direct involvement, insisting that Fajemirokun brought the victims for ritual purposes and instructed that they be killed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Gotan, said intelligence-led investigations led to the arrest of Daramola on November 16. He later guided detectives to the Esa-Odo Dam, where Funmilayo’s mutilated body was recovered. Several body parts, including the head, hands and breasts, were missing.
James also led officers to a bush where the remains of Sewa were discovered with vital body parts removed.
The CP confirmed that Fajemirokun fled after the incident but was later tracked to Ghana through collaboration with Interpol and repatriated to Nigeria to face justice.
He assured that all suspects would be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest other accomplices still at large.
