
A 25-year-old man, Fisayo Ajetumobi, has been killed in Ondo State after he was stabbed during a fight that broke out over a N14,000 debt.
The police have arrested the suspect, identified as Wale Ibrahim, in connection with the incident.
The clash happened on September 13, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m. at a construction site in Litaye Camp, Ondo East Local Government Area. According to the police, Ibrahim went to the site to demand N14,000 from one Gabriel Oyeniran, money owed to him for wood he had previously sold. A heated argument followed, which turned violent. During the altercation, Ibrahim allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Ajetumobi in the chest. The victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The matter was reported to the police by a resident, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect. After investigation, Ibrahim was charged to court where he will face trial.
The state police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest and prosecution. He also conveyed the position of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, who condemned the killing and assured residents that the police will continue to protect lives and property in the state.
The police urged members of the public to avoid violence when settling disputes and to report cases of conflict early to prevent further loss of life. The command also called on residents to support security efforts by providing information that can help in curbing crime across the state.
