A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi, Dr Tom Ohikere has stated that the dispute between the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan and Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio has led to former gaining greater national and international visibility.
Ohikere made made known to Summitpost when he spoke to our reporter on Tuesaday in Abuja.
Ohikere who is one of the founders of the APC in Kogi state said while he recognizes Akpabio as one of the national leaders of the party the situation should have been better managed to avert such public show of shame.
Recall that the suspended lawmaker, who also accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, had since taken her case before local and foreign media and the United Nations Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Ohikere said, “While I don’t intend to join words with the senate president or his media handlers, I would like to let him and them know that if the situation that originated the issue could have been better handled, better managed, with tact, and that is the test and measurement of leadership. Senator Natasha is not new to such situations, if you know her history, you would know that she has fought so hard in her political journey in a male dominate environment and has become seasoned not only in political activism but skillful representation and as such would not back down from a fight.”
Speaking further, Ohikere called on Akpabio to seek an amicable way out of the situation, in order to save his reputation and that of the Senate.
“I urge the senate president and his allies in the national assembly to a seek shrewd way out of the debacle, I believe the incident has strengthen the national position of my esteemed senatorial representative as a champion and advocate of the marginalized and downtrodden. I see a star shining bright and rising higher on the national political stage in the nearest future.”
