Nationwide Call to Action: Atiku’s Supporters Urged to Join ADC

Nigerian Youths for Atiku (NYFA) has announced a mandate for its members across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to promptly join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and several discontented APC leaders, has chosen the ADC as their platform to challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Prof. Gold Emmanuel, the Founder and President of NYFA, conveyed this directive through a statement by the group’s Director-General, Dare Dada, in Lagos on Thursday, asserting that NYFA remains an integral part of Abubakar’s political framework.

The call to action comes after Abubakar’s endorsement of the ADC, following his candidacy with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Presidential elections. This decision was reached during an emergency meeting held in Lagos.

Emmanuel stated, “NYFA members must act decisively by joining the ADC without delay. It is crucial for the ADC to unite with the majority.” She highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with the APC government and a strong desire for change among the populace.

Moreover, she expressed the group’s criticism of current government policies, including interest rate increases, subsidy removals, and electricity tariff hikes, affirming their belief that Abubakar and other ADC leaders can bring about significant change in 2027.

Highlighting NYFA’s steadfast support for Abubakar, Emmanuel remarked on his dedication to restructuring Nigeria into a more efficient economic federation and reforming the electoral system to ensure transparency and accountability at local government and state levels.

Notably, ex-Senate President David Mark and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola were appointed as ADC Interim Chairman and Secretary, respectively, on Tuesday. The following day, Mr. Mark officially launched the ADC as the political platform for the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement.

Among the prominent opposition figures present were Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, alongside several other distinguished politicians.
