Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has voiced concerns that President Bola Tinubu is being misled by corrupt individuals within his administration.
In a recent interview with Channels TV, Ndume stated, “I observe individuals lying to the President, telling him only what he wishes to hear.”
He went on to assert, “Those meant to assist him are the very ones deceiving him and tarnishing his reputation.” Ndume maintained his stance, expressing, “I still believe the government is largely influenced by kleptocrats and kakistocrats.”
He clarified these terms, explaining that kakistocrats are individuals occupying positions they are unfit for, while kleptocrats pursue political roles for personal gain rather than public service.
Despite acknowledging the economic struggles faced by Nigerians, Ndume remarked that dissatisfaction with the government persists. “People are unhappy, and the President is candid about the hardships, urging patience,” he noted. He further added, “The President cannot venture into the streets like I do to truly understand the people’s sentiments, as even outside the villa, he is shielded by tinted windows.”
