The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to establish examination centers specifically for the police in Lagos State.
This development was revealed by NECO’s Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
According to Wushishi, NECO will consider establishing six centers for police families to access examinations.
These centers will be strategically located, with three on the Island and three on the Mainland, to cater to the needs of police personnel and their families residing in populated areas.
Wushishi emphasized that NECO conducts various examinations, including the National Gifted Examination, National Common Entrance Examination, and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.
He noted that police families can benefit from these examinations, which will enable them to remediate failed subjects and further their education.
The establishment of these centers is expected to enhance access to education for police children and families.
Wushishi expressed gratitude to the police for their cooperation and support in conducting examinations, particularly in maintaining security and preventing malpractice.
In his response, CP Jimoh welcomed the initiative, stating that the collaboration between the police and NECO would continue.
He acknowledged the importance of education for police families and expressed his commitment to supporting NECO’s efforts.
The six locations proposed for the establishment of NECO centers are areas with high concentrations of police personnel and their families.
With these centers, police families will have easier access to examination facilities, enabling them to pursue their educational goals without facing undue challenges.
