Netflix Denies Warning Celebrity Chef Over Meghan Markle Show Criticism

Netflix is pushing back against claims that it sent a legal threat to a celebrity chef who publicly criticized Meghan Markle’s new cooking series With Love, Meghan.

The show, released last month, features the Duchess of Sussex preparing food and entertaining friends and family at her home in California.

The controversy began when 41-year-old chef Jameson Stocks, who once cooked for King Charles, harshly criticized the series during a media appearance. He called the program difficult to watch and claimed it lacked authenticity. According to him, Netflix responded by sending him a legal letter warning him about his comments.

Netflix has since denied those claims. A spokesperson from the streaming platform said no legal letter was ever issued to Stocks. The company’s denial comes after the chef repeated the allegation in a media interview, claiming Netflix had been angered by his remarks.

Stocks, who said he was previously approached to appear on the show but declined, has continued to voice his disapproval. He questioned Markle’s culinary skills and said she should return to acting instead of pursuing a career in food media. Stocks also stated he didn’t want to be part of something that felt staged or inauthentic.

With Love, Meghan is one of several projects that Markle and Prince Harry have developed as part of their multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix, signed in 2020. The show includes appearances from well-known guests like actors Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, as well as chefs Alice Waters and Roy Choi. A second season is reportedly set to release in 2026.

Stocks’s criticism isn’t the only negative reaction the series has faced. Despite its high-profile cast and glossy production, early reviews have been largely unfavorable. Some viewers have questioned the show’s tone, content, and Markle’s role as a culinary host.

While the chef’s allegations have sparked media attention, Netflix’s denial suggests there may be more to the story. For now, the streaming giant maintains that it has taken no legal action against Stocks or anyone else over opinions on the series.

The debate over the show reflects ongoing scrutiny of the couple’s media ventures, which continue to draw both loyal fans and outspoken critics. Whether With Love, Meghan gains traction over time or fades into the background, it remains a lightning rod for public opinion.
