The Federal Government has established 16 years as the minimum age for admission to tertiary institutions throughout Nigeria.
This decision was unveiled by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during his speech at the 2025 policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The introduction of this age requirement is intended to guarantee that students possess the necessary academic and emotional maturity to meet the challenges of higher education.
