Timothy Taylor, a 38-year-old man from New York City, has admitted to killing both his wife and ex-wife just two weeks apart in a disturbing series of crimes.
The first murder occurred on May 13, 2023, in Brooklyn, where Taylor fatally attacked his current wife.
After the incident, Taylor fled the city and traveled to North Carolina, staying out of sight as police launched a manhunt.
By the end of May, he had made his way to Schenectady, New York, where his ex-wife lived with her three children, two of whom were his.
On May 28, Taylor checked into a nearby hotel and later broke into her home in the early morning hours.
He stabbed her more than 22 times while her children were inside the house.
Following the brutal attack, Taylor escaped through a window, disposed of his bloody clothing, and returned to his hotel by taxi.
He then went to a bus station, attempting to avoid capture.
Authorities eventually located and arrested him at a bar in Philadelphia a few days later.
During police questioning, Taylor confessed to both killings. He said guilt over the first murder led him to kill his ex-wife, claiming he held resentment toward her.
Prosecutors say the second victim tried to protect her children during the attack, and her actions, along with the help of the eldest child, played a key role in the investigation.
On July 1, 2025, Taylor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the Schenectady killing.
He is still facing charges in Brooklyn for the murder of his wife earlier that month.
