The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has approved key amendments to its statutes and electoral framework at an Extraordinary General Assembly held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Delegates from across the country gathered at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall to deliberate on issues affecting the development and governance of football in Nigeria.
The meeting opened with a minute of silence in honour of former NFF Technical Director, Adegboye Onigbinde, and ex Super Eagles captain, Henry Nwosu, as well as other stakeholders who recently passed on.
The Congress commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained support to sports development, particularly through funding and incentives for national teams. It also acknowledged contributions from the leadership of the National Sports Commission in repositioning the sector.
Delegates praised Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, for hosting the assembly and supporting football development in the state.
A major outcome of the meeting was the unanimous approval of amendments to the NFF Statutes, Electoral Code and Standing Orders, aimed at strengthening governance within the federation.
The Congress also ratified the composition of the Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, with members drawn from the six geopolitical zones.
In addition, Ernst & Young was appointed as the new independent auditor of the federation for an initial four year term, replacing PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The assembly fixed September 26, 2026, for the next Elective Congress, scheduled to hold in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
A vote of confidence was passed on the NFF Executive Committee led by its President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for its efforts in advancing football development across Nigeria.
The Congress reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening football administration and promoting the growth of the game nationwide.
