The decisive win was confirmed even before the final four relay events were concluded at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, as Edo had already built an unassailable lead on the medals table. At the close of events, the host recorded an impressive tally of 52 gold medals, alongside 34 silver and 25 bronze.

Delta State claimed second position with 39 gold, 29 silver and 35 bronze medals, while former champions Bayelsa settled for third place after finishing with 25 gold, 24 silver and 26 bronze medals.

Akwa Ibom, Abia, Cross River, Ondo, Rivers and Imo States occupied the fourth to ninth positions respectively in the overall standings.

Despite finishing second overall, Delta State asserted dominance in the relay races, winning three out of the four events on the final day. The team secured gold medals in the men’s and women’s 4x100m races, as well as the women’s 4x400m event. Akwa Ibom State prevented a clean sweep by taking gold in the men’s 4x400m relay.

The Games, sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission and organised by Dunamis Icon Limited, also featured cultural activities aimed at promoting unity within the region.

During the Cultural Expo Night, headlined by popular comedian Okey Bakkassi, Ondo State emerged winner of the dance competition, earning a ₦1 million cash prize. The reward was subsequently doubled by the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, who attended the event.

Chairman of the Edo State Sports Council, Amadin Enabulele, praised the athletes for their commitment and resilience throughout the tournament. He also acknowledged the support of Governor Monday Okpebholo, attributing the success to the state government’s backing.

According to him, the triumph represents a proud moment for Edo State and reflects the impact of sustained investment in sports development.
