“We’ll Collaborate With Sister Agencies To Fish Out, Punish Attackers Of Security Personal” – Peace Corps Boss Fumes
By Omonu YG Nelson
Against the backdrop of the recent recurrent attacks on security personnel by some disgruntled Nigerians, the Commandant General of Nigeria Peace Corps, Dr Mustapha Muhammed Abubakar has revealed that his agency is ready to collaborate with other sister agencies, to fish out and punish attackers of security personnel.
Dr Abubakar explained that no individual is bigger than the law, hence the law enforcement agencies should not hesitate to bring culprits to justice, no matter how highly placed.
“No individual has any right to abuse, embarrass, insulting and manhandle the officers of the law, as no individual is higher than government and the state. Every unscrupulous element in the society should be made to face the full wrath of the law. This is the position of Nigeria Peace Corps under the leadership of Dr Abubakar as injustice to one is injustice to all.”
In a statement signed by the ACG Administration of the crops, Azeez W.T., Dr Abunakar condemned in strong term, the new wave of attacks on uniform men
“I condemn in strong term the recent attack on a police officer who was subjected to the highest form of barbaric attack by a civilian called Seun Kuti. It is a criminal act that must be met with the full weight of the law.
“The important role of security agencies in any society cannot be over-emphasised Security agencies cannot become the target of attacks in the cause of maintaining law and order. If this ugly trend is not arrested as quickly as possible, it can lead to total breakdown of the law and order, thereby opening ways for a state of anarchy which is a precipitation to war.”
He said security agencies go through harrowing experiences everyday in the line of duty. “Security duties is a calling that demands sometimes paying supreme price for the survival of the nation. Men in uniform die for the citizens to survive. Men in uniform abandon thier families to protect other people’s families. They keep vigil for others to enjoy thier periods of relaxation and deny themselves pleasure in order to keep the nation in proper shape; they therefore need to be respected by all.”
While admonishing the officers of the law to continue doing thier best in serving the nation, he urges them to  collectively invest thier paramilitary efforts in fishing out the bad eggs in the system as security matter is as delicate as life itself.
He pledged that the Nigeria Peace Corps is fully prepared to collaborate with other sister agencies to strengthen the security architecture of the country as well as contributing its quota to security and national development.
