In a joint statement, Nigeria and South Africa have condemned the ongoing conflict in Sudan, urging an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
“The senseless violence has resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives, exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, displaced millions of people, affecting women and children, and led to the total destruction of critical infrastructure,” said Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, and Mr. Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, in a joint statement.
A statement by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs says, the two ministers, who met on the sidelines of the African Union Executive Council in Accra, reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in various sectors. They also expressed concern over regional and continental matters, including peace and security on the African continent.
